Courtesy of Rachael Ray, whose show I love -- odd for me because I generally don't like talk shows or cooking shows. o_O

Barbeque Chicken with "Rach's Almost Famous" BBQ sauce, which I made from scratch.
Smashed Sweet Potatoes with Honey, Lemon, and Nutmeg.

(And I'll probably toss some kind of frozen veggie into the microwave to finish things out for the hubby. Chicken and sweet potatoes are more than enough for me.)

I feel so accomplished right now, basking in the Domestic Goddess vibez. Let's hope the food actually tastes OK so I can hang on to that glow a bit longer -- LOLz!

LMAO!
Tex you crack me up! I love the sound of that term-- domestic goddess vibe.. hahahaha Your dinner menu sounds superb!
I wish my attempt at din-din was half as nice. Rarely do I ever cook, I'm a total Akane Tendo in the kitchen.
Seriously! No kid. O_O I'm *literally* that bad. XD

Tonight Ray had to work till 9 and I came home so dead beat from work all I mustered up was a salad and veggie omelette!
More like brunch than supper LOL!
*thinks should watch FNetwork for more than their cupcake shows*

LOLz! *snuggles*

The chicken and sweet potatoes were actually pretty easy to cook. I can send the recipes to you, if you like. All told, it took about an hour or so to make, and that is including the time spent peeling and cutting the sweet potatoes. I hate peeling any kind of potatoes; it always takes me FOREVER! >.O Seriously, I'm like the slowest veggie peeler/cutter in the world. *despairs*

Don't lose heart, though. I come from a family of amazing cooks -- the kind of women who cook based on instinct. Yeah ... very intimidating. And it was an instinct that, somehow, passed me by. I never felt I had the ability to cook and, basically, never really tried it. It was just too scary to me and something that seemed way out of my league. I particularly didn't cook when I was working. I was too busy and too tired after all those hours at work, and cooking gave me no pleasure.

I only started really focusing on trying to cook last year, believe it or not. Now that I'm at home with my kiddo -- albeit trying to write every day, but not exactly the same as a "standard" office-type job -- I got fed up with all the gunk that's in most packaged / pre-prepped foods. I decided I would start trying to make things from scratch, and it's been going OK so far. I can't say cooking is my favorite thing. It still doesn't give me a lot of joy or anything, but it does give me a certain amount of satisfaction to know I can do it. And trying new recipes can be interesting. (Sometimes with disastrous consequences! LOL =P)

You're making me hungry. ^o^ I'm kind of miffed they took the real "Iron Chef" off in favor of the wanna be Americanized version. :P Of course I just enjoyed the heck out of Kaga-san. And the "secret ingredient" occasionally biting back. XD

I'm kind of partial to "The Best Thing I Ever Ate." Picked up an interesting technique to try the next time I want to have hamburgers.

Okay. . . I don't care how late it is. . . I'm eating something.

I've never watched the Americanized version, but I loved the original "Iron Chef". So, so funny!! It's been forever since I last saw that show, though. Sometimes the reactions to the "secret ingredient" were way funny. =D

I've never seen "The Best Thing I Ever Ate". But ... hamburgers -- YUM! Rachael Ray made these turkey sliders on her show a couple of weeks ago, and those looked super good. "Hamburger" made me think of them. LOL I might have to look that recipe up and give it a try, too.

Overall, I am not partial to cooking shows. They normally make me feel inadequate -- like I could never accomplish what the person on the show is doing. But, for some reason, watching Rachael Ray gives me the opposite feeling. She makes it accessible, somehow.

I hope your snack was good! (I think I'm gonna have a cupcake, myself. I'm hungry now, thinking about all this food! Hee!) *GLOMS*
