NaNo Day 20 (51,844) ... WOOT!!

WOOT!! NaNo is DONE! *falls over DED*

And, even better, my book is actually done, too. I had hoped I could finish up the whole thing within the 50K words -- or close to it. And I had also hoped to finish it up during November. Just so I could say it was "done", you know? I still haven't finished my NaNo project from last year, and I did not want another uncompleted task hanging over my head.

Needless to say, I am thrilled -- and actually totally shocked -- that I wrapped the book up just now. Which means I have now officially written two books. zOMG -- I can't freaking believe that! O_O

(Now if I could only get off my lazy duff and actually edit the first one! >.O)

I honestly did not think I would finish this year -- mainly because of all the distractions, because of my parents visiting, and because, in general, I had been in a writing funk for such a long time. I figured I would be glad, either way. Like, even if I didn't finish, I would be happy if I at least got back to writing regularly. But (!!) it does make me happy to finish it -- and to know the whole project is done. Last year, I finished NaNo (the 50K words in 30 days), but I still have not totally finished the story that was my NaNo project. It is nice to have an actual, finished project under my belt, instead of yet one more thing sitting out there incomplete. (Because I have a LOT of those already. YIKES!!)

I think getting a lot of extra progress in early in the month was the only thing that let me finish. By the time the distractions really started to hit, I was already at the point where I had done so much work, so I think it encouraged me to keep on going. Otherwise, it would have been a lot easier to drop the whole thing.

With that said, I was really worried about (and not expecting to) finish this year. I was in a terrible funk when I started this thing -- and had been for several months. Plus, last year I finished before my parents arrived for their visit. I did not expect to get much writing time in after they came, as they are not usually understanding of my need to sit alone and work. It was a bit better this year, for some reason, so that was a relief. =)

I've been celebrating a little bit by doing nothing constructive. *is bad* When I get home, I really need to get onto my next project, as well as get started on my Christmas cards. I'm kind of freaking out, because Christmas will be here before I know it! Yikes!!
