Whack-a-Mole ...

Kind of a random title today. But then, I'm in a random mood, I guess. Although I think moles are pretty cute. I probably wouldn't want to whack one for real. Then again, I've never had one tearing up my yard or anything like that.
I am So Freaking Tired. I didn't sleep well last night. Actually, I didn't sleep at all. I was exhausted when I finally went to bed (after playing with my website into the wee hours of the morning), but I got chilled. And I could not get warm. I put on a long-sleeved shirt and socks and everything, but was still freezing. So I was basically too cold to go to sleep. I hate that. Good thing it doesn't happen very often. Since I didn't sleep last night -- I think I fell asleep somewhere around 6:30 or so, then hubby got up around 7 AM because he had meetings to go to this morning. Sometimes, his cologne makes me feel sick if I smell it first thing in the morning or when I'm hungry. (I know, this makes no sense whatsoever, but it's the way it is -- even though I like the cologne, overall.) Anyhow, that happened this morning. I finally managed to fall back asleep around 8, only to wake up again at 10 AM, unable to sleep any more. Bleh. I hate that.
Hubby attended his work meetings this morning, then came home around 1 or so. We went to lunch at a favorite Japanese restaurant. We can't eat there with our daughter, because they don't serve anything she likes or will eat. Silly, finicky kid. It was nice to have a grown-up lunch and some grown-up conversation. It was almost like being real people again, instead of just being "Mamma" and "Daddy". We thought about going to a movie, but I wasn't much in the mood. We ended up driving around and oggling houses we could never afford. It's a favorite pastime of ours. I really love seeing all the gorgeous houses and big, pretty yards. It seems like it would be depressing, since we could probably never afford that. But, instead, I find it a bit inspirational. I usually see a few things that make me think: "Hey, I could try that at our house. I bet it would look cute."
Driving was nice. More conversation, which has been lacking for us lately because of our busy schedules. Plus, I really just enjoyed the peace and quiet. There is not much of either for me when my parents are visiting -- but that's another story for another day.
The new appliances are still the yayz(!!). The washer and dryer are very well broken in by now. I think I've washed everything in the house at least twice. And, I love, love, love them. I've done one load in the dishwasher, and it was great, too. I don't see the dishwasher getting quite as much use as the washer/dryer, though. But that's OK.
We finally got the new rugs put down in our bedroom. I had some rather cheap-o ones in there. I liked them at the time I bought them, and they looked great -- until Fae started shredding them. I pulled them out today in preparation for putting the new rugs down, and they basically fell apart in my hands. So not good. It was a huge mess. I like the new rugs, though. I think they look nice, and, hopefully, Fae won't destroy them. At least, not right away. Darn pin-head.
I only had one project that I really, really, really, really wanted my dad to do during his visit this time. I wanted him to build a big box/case where I could store my racks of cel books. I wanted it big, so that I would have room to add at least two more racks in it. He finished it yesterday.
...
zOMG!!! It is huge and awesome!! I really, really love it way more than I can express in an LJ entry. I'm letting it set for a day or so now, to make sure the fumes have dissipated before I put my cels in there. I'm just so excited because I feel this is going to give them a lot more protection. Plus, the box is tall enough that the top of it will serve as a great work surface for me when I want to put new cels away, or rearrange books, or pull things out for rescanning. I'm super excited over it.
Speaking of cels, I did an update last night and today. I got a package in from YJ, so I decided to poke around with the scanner and get them all ready to post. It was mostly sketches, which means scanning is a pain. But, once you have them scanned correctly, you don't have to do much additional image editing on them, which is nice. I only had one actual cel in this update. All in all, I was pretty excited over everything in there, though.

Date: 2009-05-03 12:31 am (UTC)Take a picture of your new cel storage system! Please? I'm interested. One time I got... you ever see those scrapbooking storage cubes before? The measurements in it made me think my cel books would fit standing up in them, but I didn't take into account the thickness of the wood. >_< So they have to stand sideways. I always like to see people's solutions to storing all their books. Mine are... bulky.
And yay for the new appliances! I meant to say so earlier.

Date: 2009-05-03 02:43 am (UTC)Yeah, the pan sketch is really painful looking. I think that's one of the things I really like about it. Plus, it was a shocking and dramatic scene. I love the Cleao/Leki cel, too. It sounds really dumb, I know, but I'm so excited over getting it mainly because I wanted it for so long. I know I visited it for at least four years, if not five. I really can't believe I was able to get it, honestly. I always figured it just wasn't meant to be, or something.
Leki is a wolf, I think. Well, he's something in the show called a "Wolven", which is a mystical, wolf-like creature. They are GIANT when they are grown. Leki is just a baby. With that said, I've always thought he looks like a cat, too. Something about the ears. And the tail, maybe.
I'll definitely take pics of the new storage system. It's so simple, though, that you'll probably laugh at me. I keep the cel books on racks -- basically rolling file folder carts that I modified to hold several books (hanging). Then, they will go inside the "coffin" (my term of endearment for it -- lolz), which is just a big, wooden box. It's a nice wooden box, but, really there's no other way to describe it. =P
Thanks for the new appliance yayz! I feel so old being all excited over new appliances. But, oh well. I guess I am officially "old" now, anyhow. *laughs*
