Doggie Dance of JOY ...
May. 8th, 2009 11:03 am(X-Posted from Live Journal)
Or maybe not-so-much joy in this case. Today was Fae's day for monthly heartworm and flea treatments. Always a big "event". She's really good about the heartworm pills. She actually eats them -- much as she eats pretty much everything she finds: bugs, grass, little bits of fuzz, old kleenexes, rocks ... Yeah, you get the idea. My previous dog, Tex, was a pain in the hoo-hah with the heartworm pills. He would not eat the pills. I had to (quite literally) shove them down his throat. Not a great experience for either of us. Eventually, they made this type of heartworm treatment that was like a "treat" -- shaped like a treat, tasty like a treat, etc. He did pretty well with those, but, of course, they were more expensive. So, yay for Fae for being the "bargain hound" in this one instance.
The flea stuff, though ...
Not a popular thing at our house. I remember, as a kid, when we would have to do the all-over flea spray or powder on our dogs. Talk about a huge mess. This is much better, because I use Frontline, so it's only a bit of liquid/whatever right on the back of her neck and between her shoulders. But, you would think I was KILLING her from the way she acts.
Flea stuff always leads to the Doggie Dance of (not so much) Joy. She grovels. She snivels. She smiles at me (as if she thinks smiling is enough to convince me not to put this junk on her). Then, she's all over the place: rolling on the floor, jumping on the sofas and chairs so that she can try to rub this stuff off of her, scrubbling on the carpet and throw pillows ... Basically, if she can roll on it or rub against it, she does. Silly beast. All accompanied by a lot of barking, growling, and snarly complaining. Thank goodness this only happens once a month. I don't think I could take it more often than that.
I'm pretty glad it's Friday. No particular reason, really. It just seems the weeks are feeling consistently longer lately. I'm ready for a good weekend of relaxation. Lately, it's been go-go-go every weekend, too. It's hard to keep that kind of pace for any length of time. Plus, I'm still recovering from my parents' visit. Or maybe I'm just lazy. Either way ...
Added a few more little things to the cel gallery recently. Three Black Blood Brothers sketches that, somehow, got left out of the previous update. I never have a particularly large update these days. It seems I buy less, although I have a few things coming in here and there. I had thought about doing once a month updates, but that didn't work for me. I kind of like pecking away at it whenever I have the time or desire, although that means smaller updates, in general. Not that it matters much. Just kind of rambling, I guess.

I doubt I'll ever have a very large collection from this show, but I'm happy to have a few pieces. =)
Hmm ... what else?
I've been feeling a little lonely and blue lately ... but maybe I'll leave that for another entry. This one was fairly upbeat, and I hate to end things on a downer. (Although maybe I just did? Hmmm ...)
