Random List of Stuff I Like (a lot):
paper
large industrial machines
men's cufflinks
bunnies
horses
roses / growing rosebushes
stainless steel
black granite
the color blue
the first day when the weather truly feels like "fall"
fall tree colors, but especially the fire red and bright orange ones
windchimes
christmas
taking the time to wrap presents beautifully
fine ribbon
"bones" (the show)
...
I'm sure there's more, but I'm more than a bit brain dead at the moment. I have no idea why I even wanted to make a list. My brain just said: "Hey! Let's make a list!" And I thought: "No way. How lame!" And yet, here I am. Typing away. It's still pretty lame, but oh well.
Speaking of paper and Christmas, I feel it's time to start planning what I want to do for my Christmas cards this year. I love making my own cards. It always ends up being more of a massive project than I expect, and I tend to lose heart (and steam) somewhere about mid-way through things. But, once I'm done, the whole process brings me a lot of joy. I also love getting handmade cards! Anyhow, since making them can take quite a while, I figure I should get a jump on things now. (Organization! Scary!) I found a really cute snowman stamp today at Michael's. I couldn't resist getting it, so hopefully I can incorporate it into the card somehow. I purchased one of those card-making / card pattern mags, too, for inspiration. That, and I just love seeing what different kinds of things people make with paper. (Yes, I'm weird. I know this. >.O) I'll probably make a separate post in the coming weeks to do my annual address-gathering thing.
Tomorrow is my wedding anniversary. 11 years, although we've been together for 19. I guess that's why the whole anniversary thing doesn't seem like a big deal. But, it's nice to have been with someone for that long and still feel you are "in love" with them. I think being "in love" and loving someone are two different things. They often come together, but they don't have to. It's nice knowing I still have that giddy-happy feeling when I'm with him. He sent me a very cute little azalea bush, along with a very romantic message that he composed himself (which really surprised me!). And he got me a season of Bones on DVD. I know it doesn't sound like something I should be happy-giddy over, but I am. Because he thought about ME. Instead of getting some kind of "normal" anniversary gift, he actually thought about what I love and something that would bring me hours of happiness. I love that.
I got him two pairs of nice cuff links (see how that ties into the list up there? tex iz so klever. =P), as well as a nice storage box for them, since he's started to get a little collection of those things. And they are easy to lose. I was pretty pumped about his gift, too, because I really got to splurge on him. And surprise him. He is almost impossible to shop for, and even more impossible to surprise. That was a great feeling. It actually lifted my bad mood for most of the day. Yay!
I kind of started in on my "make the dining room a guest room/play room" project. First step: shopping around for a sleeper sofa. We ate near a Crate & Barrel today, and we went over there to take a look at what's available. I found one I really love, but I feel compelled to shop around more. I feel too guilty just buying the first thing I fall in love with. >.O Next step: more sketching out of ideas for the room conversion. It's difficult because our house has a very open floor plan, so the "dining room" is open to the rest of the second floor sitting area. Plus, there is a pass-through from the kitchen into the dining room. I think I have something figured out to kind of close it off into an actual "room" without sacrificing too much of the openness, which is something I love about our house.
I'm sure I had more to jabber on about. But I'm so freaking tired. I think I'm gonna stumble off to bed. I hope everyone has a great weekend!!
