Thoughts ...
Jan. 19th, 2012 06:13 pmToday, as I was driving to therapy, I happened to glance over at the sidewalk. I saw a guy there, walking his dog. No big deal, really. I must see a hundred people walking a hundred assorted dogs in the regular course of the day around here.
What made this one different is that this dog only had three legs.
And yet, he was hopping along, sniffing under each bush, pulling at the leash, and doing the happy-dog-big-tail-wag thing. He wasn't bitching and moaning about how life was unfair because he only had three legs. He wasn't wondering if he was still the same dog. He wasn't feeling insecure or weird about his appearance. He wasn't suffering from a huge lack of self esteem. Nope -- he was just living his life, wagging his tail, happy to be a dog.
And I thought to myself: I wish I could be like that.
