Clowns Will Eat My Brain ...
Nov. 1st, 2010 09:49 pmOK, so I have "post title fail" at the moment. We just went to see this HUGE pumpkin display near where we live. The person who lives there carves hundreds of pumpkins every year and then puts them out for people to see. He only puts them out for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, so the line to get in and see them was long, long, long, LONG. o_o And it was quite chilly, too. I had serious doubts about this adventure, but it turned out to be worth the long, cold wait. He had around 200 pumpkins, all elaborately carved. There were famous paintings ... Mt. Rushmore ... Scooby Doo ... different big cats ... wolves ... horses ... buffalos & Native Americans ... just to name a few of the different kinds. Really impressive.
Anyhow, back to the clowns ...
At the end of the pumpkin tour, they had a table set up where there was a guest book sign in. I think the person who does the display likes to keep track of how many people come each year or something. The table was manned by three people all dressed as -- you guessed it: clowns! Needless to say, I skipped the table and the guest book. No clowns for me. Nope. No, thank you. o_o
Survived Halloween with only minor damage to my psyche, but that's fodder for another post altogether. If I have the energy to relive it, that is. *nervous laugh* We took the kiddo trick-or-treating with one of her best friends. He lives in a very tight-knit neighborhood, and they throw a block party every year. We've gone for the last four years, and it's a lot of fun. Plus, we feel a little better about our daughter trick-or-treating there because we know the people who live in that neighborhood. These days, you can't be too careful. (Although I end up tossing a lot of kiddo's candy every year. She's really interested in it for the first couple of days, and then it kind of loses its appeal. I guess you really can have too much of a good thing. ^.~)
Mom unit heads home this coming weekend. It's been a good visit, but it's also time for her to go. I think the old saying is true: You can't go home again. Or, in this case ... you can't live with your parents ... even if it's in your own house and you are paying the mortgage. That's kind of too long to be one of those poignant-type sayings, though. Still, it's the truth.
I made a fancel today. Other than that and getting the Halloween photos off my camera and onto the computer, I didn't get a whole heck of a lot done. Yay for lazy days! (Although I am kind of looking forward to getting my house back so that I can get back to editing the book. So much work to do there. *sigh*)
