Frenzy ...
Dec. 17th, 2009 09:31 pmI'm basically "done" with Christmas at this point -- as in I'm ready for it all to be over. Just too much to do ... Too many expectations I know I can't meet ... Yadda, yadda, yadda. All I really want for Christmas is some peace and quiet and a little time to recoup and recharge. I'm just ... tired. Bleh.
We ended up changing our flight down to Texas. Instead of the 20th, we will go down on 12-24. I didn't think we would be able to finish out my daughter's H1N1 vaccination in time, so I decided to err on the side of caution bt changing the flight. It turned out we would have been fine, as the vaccine came in just in time -- but we had already changed the flights. This works out well, though. My daughter won't miss out on the fun school activities, plus the trip happens during her vacation time. So, no missed school. And I am not sure I could have handled such a long trip home (10 days!) on top of my parents' recent extended stay. They were just here for 3 weeks over Thanksgiving. I haven't had time to recover emotionally from that. Truthfully, I would rather stay home for a nice, quiet Christmas at home with my hubby and daughter, but I couldn't get away with that. As it is, my parents are "horribly disappointed" in my decision -- and have called several times to tell me so. Ah well ...
I spent most of today wrapping gifts for the hubby and kiddo. And a few for friends we exchange with in person. I got almost everything wrapped. I think I have 2 or 3 more to do. Kiddo helped me put them under the tree. Now we'll wait and see if Fae gets into them. Darn dog.
Kiddo and I headed into the District tonight. Hubby got tickets for them to go see the decorations at the White House. Kiddo has been looking forward to it, so I hpoe it's a fun time.
I organized (which actually took me a LONG time!) my 2009 "Year in Revue" section for my Rubberslug Gallery. I'll post a link later, when I get a chance.
