NaNo Me, Baby!!!
Nov. 25th, 2009 10:59 pmSo, my final "offical" NaNo entry for 2009. (Mainly just so I can post my snazzy web-badge thingy. Hee!)

NaNo was ... fun this year. I think. It was a very different experience for me from last year, but I still think it was a great experience for me, over all. Last year, I came into NaNo on a bit of a writing high, as I had just finished the first draft of my "Midroc" novel, so the whole experience of NaNo-ing was kind of a "wheee! ain't this a ton of fun!" thing. Not so much this year. This year, I came into NaNo from a very low place. I had not written in months. I hadn't been able to summon up the energy or desire even to try editing my finished first-draft novel (and, actually, still haven't ... but I need to get on it!). And, I was pretty much at the point where I thought my novel sucked, was unreadable, yadda, yadda, yadda. Needless to say, it was a low point for me, all around.
I do think NaNo helped me with that. At first, it was a struggle. A huge, horrible struggle. But, as the days passed along, that changed. I actually began to enjoy writing again -- to the point where I'm actually looking forward to some "me" time during the long holiday weekend so that I can get some writing done. This is a good thing. It makes me happy. And I hope that feeling -- and the discipline to sit down and write a bit every day -- will stick with me for the rest of the year.
