Nature vs. Nurture ...
Mar. 10th, 2006 10:23 amSo, yesterday, I realized my kiddo is already well on her way (at age 2) to being an otaku, just like her mom. She wanted to see "mama's pictures" (translated = my cel gallery), and, as we were looking through the different sections, we came upon some of the original artwork I've collected. I have this wonderful CG piece of Howl, done by my Internet Twin, Sakura-chan.
My kiddo takes one look at it, says: "Oh, look, Mama! It's Mr. Howl!"
And, then, she proceeds to describe exactly what scene in the movie it's from. I mean exactly -- and in great detail. I was really surprised, but I thought it was so adorable. Not that I should be surprised. She loves that movie, and has watched it almost as many times as I have. Still ... I was like: "Oooh! Mommy's little otaku!" *big hugz*
Then, yesterday, we're in Best Buy, browsing through the DVD section, and she spots several of her favorites: "Look, Mommy! It's Inu Yasha! Oh, look! It's Mr. Aya (said when looking at the WK Gluhen DVD covers)." No "normal kiddie cartoons" for this ankle-biter. *sweatdrop*
So, that leads me to wonder ... was she just fortunate enough to inherit mommy's "otaku genes"? Or, is it a nurture kind of thing. (Keeping in mind that, almost as soon as she could sit up, she was in mommy's lap, watching anime on the computer. :D Card Captor Sakura was a big favorite, even though it was in Japanese. *grin*)
Nature ... nurture ... nature ... nurture ... nature ... nurture ...?? *silly grin*
And, in other news, the Balinese fic is progressing. I'm well on my way to finishing the next part of the fic, although channeling all this Yohji angst is not easy. The things I do for my pretty, pretty boys. *fangirlgiggle*
I'm sure I had other things to write about, but, as usual, my mind is a total blank. *sigh* We're heading out pretty soon for a day of fun -- visiting the Spy Museum in DC. Woo!
