If you got that message, it generally means the delivery confirmation number was scanned at the sending post office, which would indicate the package was mailed. Otherwise, the message would say "we have no record of that tracking number in the system."
In my experience, it's usually a good day or two before tracking numbers show up on the USPS site. In fact, I've had packages arrive *before* the tracking info ever updated.....
