Bit of a Ramble ...

I sense a hodge podge of a post coming on. Wheee! (or maybe not so much ... *nervous laugh*)

Been feeling generally icky and under the weather for the past couple of days. Doesn't help that I didn't sleep well last night. The good thing is that I know this will pass in a couple more days -- like the "curse" that it is. Bleh. It makes me regret being born female. Seriously. 'Nuff said, I think. >.O

Watched too much HGTV yesterday. Learned a few things: (1)I get nothing done when I have the TV tuned to HGTV. I can't tune those shows out for nothin'. (2)Everyone who doubted me when I wanted to go blue with black highlights for my kitchen should grovel at my feet! No, really -- I have, in the five years we've been in this house, slowly been adding new touches/redos in the kitchen, many of which employ this color scheme. So, if seeing it in person wasn't proof enough that it works, the "Spice up my Kitchen" show yesterday redid a kitchen with teacup blue walls, white cabinets, and black countertops. Gorgeous! And, see? I do have taste. Well, I mean, other than in my mouth, that is. (3)I want black granite countertops in the worst way. (4)I should stop watching HGTV ... because, yeah, now I really want the new countertops. *cries*

Fae is tormenting Sister Kitty. Sister Kitty is on the top stair leading up to the third floor. She snuck out of the office while Fae was sleeping. Sadly, I got up (disturbing Fae's slumber) before Sister Kitty made it back to the safety of her kitty bed. Now, only a child gate separates them, and Fae will not let things go. I can feel Sister Kitty's hate vibez from here. Poor kitty.

New books are the LOVE!!! ♥ ♥ Got an Amazon delivery last night: Book #5 of the Dresden Files (which I can never find in the store), and two books by Abigail Thomas. I'm in bibliophile heaven!! Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] steffannee, whose wonderful Amazon b-day giftie made all this happiness possible.

I'm making chicken noodle soup tonight. Provided I have all the ingredients. If I don't have all the ingredients, I'll make ... hmmm. I don't know what I'll make, but it won't be chicken noodle soup.

I decided to try and use my Dreamwidth account as a dedicated writing journal. I've tried this in the past here on LJ, but it never worked out. Hopefully the third (millionth) time is the charm. We shall see.

And, it's time for me to go pick up my daughter at school. =D

You're welcome! I refreshed my memory on what book 5 was. OMG... Erm... anyway... heh... READ IT! :P

I'm the same way with Food Network. In my dream kitchen, I just want butcher block for countertop. Then it'll get all knicked up and look awesome. And then I wont have to bother to pull out an actual cutting board (cept for raw meat).

If you don't have noodles, you can always put rice in your soup and make it chicken rice soup. ^^

Hope you feel better! :)

Ack!! I can't wait to read book 5 now. I've been dawdling on book 4, just so I would have #5 ready and waiting when I was done with it. But, I just read the back of #5 and ...

O_O WANNA READ IT SOOOOOO BADLY!!! *flails*

I'm equally excited over the Abigail Thomas books. She's one of my favorites, but her books are hard to find in the brick-and-mortar stores. Which is a shame.

I love the look of butcher block for counters, too! But the black is just sooooo pretty. (Although I would probably go for something that looked like granite but wasn't actual granite -- for "cleanliness" purposes. My understanding is that granite can be a bit hard to keep clean ...?)

I have noodles. I'm actually not sure I have all the spices I'll need.

*hugs and healing vibes* Hope you feel better soon!!

Hehehehe, BBC America is my HGTV. You can't pry my gaze from the TV if it's on.

The blue and black kitched decor sounds lovely! They are striking when combined and have a huge impact!

Chicken noodle soup sounds yummy!

What is Dreamwidth?

Boom! You snuck by me! *huggles* =D

I am grateful that I know I'll feel better in a couple of days, even if I have moments right now when it feels like I'll never survive that long. >.O

Oh my, yes! I have fallen prey to the siren call of BBCA before, too. But, HGTV is totally my tele-drug. I'm all ---> O_O *stares at tv* when it's on. It's sad, really. *nervous laugh*

I love blue and black together. It's something that has to be done a little carefully, as it's easy for either color to get overwhelmed, but done with restraint, it can be really pretty. At least, I think so. And, darnit, I still want those countertops! (lolz)

Dreamwidth is a new blogging/journal sort of site. I believe it was started by some of the folks who originally started LJ. You have to either set up a paid account or have an invite code (for a free account); I didn't know anyone with invite codes, so I set up a paid account. I don't have any plans for leaving LJ ever, but I was pretty excited at the idea of trying something new. I'm not sure how the writing journal will work out, but we'll see. I can only try, right? *shrugs*

I hope you feel better soon tex *hugs*

You know only part I don't like is that it wont let you know on dreamwidth when somebody that you friends with or have access. I like to know when there are updates.

Thanks! *hugs back*

Do you get emails from DW? I've been getting email notices when anyone adds me or "subscribes" (or whatever they call it >.O). That's how I knew you had added me.

Or do you mean when someone you are watching updates with an entry? I don't think I get notices for that, but I can't remember getting notices from LJ, either. Maybe I don't have that function turned on?

(Or maybe I'm just totally confuse. Ehhehheh)

[identity profile] katanas-edge.livejournal.com 2009-05-17 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah I get e-mail when people add me but not when people post to their Journals. Which with LJ I do get e-mail with new postings while with DW I don't. >_< I cant' even find the option to have that. :( I prefer it since that way I can keep up with the Journals. *sigh*

I love HGTV, too!

That channel is like crack for me. If I turn it on, I really can't stop watching. (LOLz)
