Project: Cards (Photos) ...
My most recent foray into card-making. In cleaning the office, I found many different photographs that I had already printed out. So, I will probably be trying to come up with different stuff here in the near future.

Dress Shop Card:
I made this one using one of my all-time favorite photographs, which shows a nearly-abandoned dress shop. The windows of the shop were papered over, and I took this picture through a small hole in that paper -- hence the soft colors and odd reflections. I colored the card blank in with marker, leaving the lines behind from each pass instead of trying to blend them together. I like the extra texture. The photo (distressed) is mounted on top of distressed art paper, and there is a silver charm dangling from this part of the card. I used a bird stamp, embellished with glitter, in the corner. I also put the bird stamp onto the envelopes for these cards, so that they would all coordinate together.

Kitty Card:
I used a photograph of my own Sister Kitty in these cards. The one pictured here was created using a card blank made from water color paper. I colored the front of the card in with marker, and, after wetting it, was pretty happy with the rather textured, denim look to it. The photograph (distressed) is mounted on top of distressed art paper, and the flower is also made of art paper. Each petal and the center are individually cut and mounted to the card, and I then outlined the edges with black. I attached a heart-shaped bead to the photograph. I placed a pretty art paper on the inside of this card for a little extra punch.

The first photo (dress shop) is one of my favorite photographs of all time. It's one of those that, ever since taking it and getting it developed, has hung somewhere in my apartment/house/etc. I'm not sure what it is that I love so much about it, even ... but it has a quality that pulls me in each time.
I wasn't sure about using the paper inside the second card, but it turned out a lot better than I expected. It's fun when stuff works out that way, instead of the other way around. LOLz!
