A Sheep by Any Other Name ...

Would still be smelly when it's wet.

So, in keeping with my natural, human tendency to behave in a rather sheep-like manner, I checked out the new Dreamwidth Studios site "everyone" has been talking about. (I say "everyone" because the information has made several appearances on my F-list. But, of course, I don't really know "everyone", so ... *ahem*)

Anyhow, the site looks pretty good and usable. I don't expect to leave LJ. I've thought about it in the past, given some of the bone-headed stunts this site has pulled. But, really, I'm used to LJ. I've been here for five years (which, really, shocks the bejeezus out of me). And, given my resistance to change, well, I guess it means LJ will remain "home base" for me for some time to come. Things I like about Dreamwidth, though ... well, basically one thing that sticks out right away (and is the main thing that matters to me): it looks and feels a lot like LJ, just at first blush. I haven't posted over there yet. I don't have the mental capacity for it right now, having had to sit here at the kitchen table for the past 30 minutes or so while my daughter engaged in "robot talk" and sang some song about grinding up wheat. The wheat song wouldn't have been so bad, except she doesn't know the whole thing, so there are about two lines of it stuck in my head at the moment. Sometimes, I think my brain is going to explode. Seriously.

But, I digress.

So, Dreamwidth. I think I might like it. I tried out InsaneJournal and Greatest Journal. I just couldn't get into either of them. I didn't like the way the pages were laid out, and the whole thing felt too unfamiliar and unfriendly. I didn't have those feelings while bopping around the Dreamwidth site. I suppose time will tell. But, I'll give it the old college try. I wouldn't mind trying the cross-post thing from over there to over here.

I'm "texchan" over there. (Same user name as LJ, but without the underscore. I should have done it that way on LJ, to start with. Oh well.)

I set up a paid account, because I basically have no friends. Well, no friends with invites, anyhow. *nervous laugh* Anyhow, I guess that means I should get invite codes at some point in time. So, if anyone on the F-list isn't already signed up and wants one, let me know. EDIT: Looks like the accounts aren't automatically coming with invites. (Thanks for the info, skyrat!) But, if I ever do get any, I'll let folks know. Sorry about the confusion.
